The Massachusetts native, who helped lead the Giants to their Elite league title last season, could feature in the side to take on the Sheffield Steelers in this weekend's double-header.
Mason arrives in Belfast on Thursday and the Giants have been working behind the scenes to ensure he's cleared to play on Friday and Saturday.
And he's excited to be returning to the city for a third year.
"Belfast has a long standing tradition of winning and doing things the right way," Mason said.
"It's a great city with great fans and I look forward to pulling on the Belfast jersey once again, with the intention of bringing more silverware to the Odyssey Arena."
There's no doubt that Jeff Mason makes us a better team.
Doug Christiansen
According to Giants head coach Doug Christiansen, Mason is a proven boost to the team.
"He has great speed and has a knack for scoring big goals," he said.
"I'm very pleased with our team and didn't expect to add a player like Mason, but his availability was something I could not ignore.
"He's a team player and knows our scheme. Hopefully, he'll hit the ground running and help us in the crucial games we have coming up."
Both games against the Steelers are home fixtures for the Giants at the Odyssey Arena.
