Linfield took the lead against Cliftonville with just three minutes on the clock.

Mairead McCann set up Nicole Graham to volley past Tiarna McKenna in the Cliftonville goal.

McKenna had a busy night between the posts but failed to stop Kirsty McGuinness slotting home the Blues second, with the final score 2-0 to Linfield.

Manager Ryan McConville said he had expected the encounter with Cliftonville to be tough.

"It was a very strong a very physical Cliftonville side and we knew it was going to be difficult.

"Playing them a couple of weeks ago in the league, we only came through that 3-2 and tonight was the exact same, but our defence was superb."

Linfield will play now play their "Big Two" rivals Glentoran in the decider.

The Glens thrashed Ballymena United 6-0 in the other semi-final

Kelly Bailey and Lauren Wade both scored hat-tricks in the game.

Bailey told UTV: "Linfield again will be another big clash, obviously Linfield-Glentoran, anytime we play them it's obviously a tight enough game, so again we'll just see what comes up."

While Crusaders may be bossing the Danske Bank Premiership, it was their North Belfast rivals Cliftonville who made the headlines again this weekend.
