It is the first time an Irish League player has been suspended in connection with a social networking site.

Knight is believed to have made the comments while he was a Coleraine player, but he will now miss two games for the Glens.

In a statement the IFA Disciplinary Committee said Knight's ban will run from 6 February.

It said: "The IFA Disciplinary Committee, having considered the written and verbal evidence provided, decided that Leon Knight be issued with a suspension from Monday 6 February 2012 until Coleraine FC has completed three matches in domestic competitive competition."

Knight completed his move to the Oval on Monday for an undisclosed fee.
