Lurgan-born Celtic boss Neil Lennon has said that stripping Rangers of the five Scottish Premier League titles and four Scottish Cups won over the last decade would be a "moral victory".

The Ibrox club could face such action if an SPL investigation finds them guilty of signing players on illegal contracts.

Lennon's Hoops were runners-up to their Old Firm rivals in all five of their league wins and he wants to have the wins awarded to them, instead of the competitions simply declared null and void.

"I wouldn't want the medals - just the recognition. That would be enough," Lennon told the Daily Mail.

"At that time though, it might have cost players contracts or bonuses, managers their jobs, and might have relegated teams. There are so many ripple effects to it."

The comments come as talks continue between Rangers chief executive Charles Green and the Scottish Football Association over the restrictions under which the newco could be allowed to play football in the new season.

I too neither support any of the Big Two in Scotland but my sympathies lie with the blue side of Glasgow. It was neither the fault of the club or its massive support that got the club into financial difficulties and the punishment meted out to them was over the top.If i were Neil Lennon i would be concerned about some of Celtic's results recently and worried about the approaching Champions League games.

I'm no fan of either club. If forced to choose it'd definitely be Celtic. I really don't like Rangers at all, not one little bit. However, banishing Rangers to Div 3 is not going to benefit anyone is Scottish football. The fixture I love most is the old firm clash. Sadly that is not going to happen for the foreseeable and that is a tragedy. The SPL needs the old firm matches and it'll be a duller place without Rangers

As in other sports, if Rangers are adjudged to have failed to play by the rules - they should be stripped of their titles. It's a matter of fair play; and natural justice.

While Crusaders may be bossing the Danske Bank Premiership, it was their North Belfast rivals Cliftonville who made the headlines again this weekend.
