Northern Ireland 's Eugene Laverty recorded fourth and fifth-placed finishes at the latest round of World Superbike Championship races in Germany on Sunday.

The Toomebridge rider started from the front of the grid in both races, alongside team-mate Marco Melandri - but was overhauled in the opening race by eventual winner Carlos Checa.

Melandri finished in second place, with Japanese rider Noriyuki Haga in third.

Laverty again missed out on a podium place in Race Two, finishing fifth.

Jonathan Rae, who was making his return from injury, finished in fourth place.
