Kilkenny have won the Liam McCarthy Cup for the 34th time after easily beating Galway in Sunday's all Ireland final replay at Croke Park.

Galway led early on after David Burke hit two goals but Richie Power's reply saw the Cats move into a 1-11 to 2-4 interval lead.

The game turned on two second half incidents both involving Galway's Cyril Donnellan.

He had a goal disallowed and was sent off shortly afterwards for a dangerous pull.

Walter Walsh and Colin Fennelly hit further goals for Kilkenny with Tony Og Regan's late reply for the Tribesmen coming as little consolation.
