Ireland will start their campaign against Croatia in Poznan.

Keane said: "We are desperate to get started now. It's been a long few weeks. It's been very good, the atmosphere around the place has been brilliant.

"Everybody is just looking forward to Sunday now."

Trapattoni is set to name his team at the official press conference 24 hours before the game.

Goalkeeper Shay Given's individual preparations have been repeatedly interrupted by knee and calf injuries and blistered feet.

The 36-year-old was back in training on Friday after sitting out parts of Thursday's session.

On Thursday night Keane said he was not unduly concerned.

He said: "He did bits and bobs, didn't he? He obviously didn't take part in the whole session, which would probably be on medical advice from the staff and what have you, but he seems to be okay.

"As long as he is on the training pitch and he's fit for Sunday's game, that's the most important thing."

Very entertaining article on the international future [or lack thereof]of James McClean by Belfast Telegraph's Steven Beacom, which happily coincides with the one he's hoping for out of spite. He makes no mention of the death threats to Lennon or the parcel bombs posted to two NI catholic players, but expects catholics to play for NI anyway. Beacom doesn't predict a flop on the cub front by McCleqan, just the international one he would dearly love to happen.
