Ireland stayed on course to reach the ICC World Twenty20 as they consigned Scotland to a third successive Group A defeat and another humiliating qualifying exit.
The Irish secured their place in the Super-Fours with a 37-run win at Dubai Stadium after bowling Scotland out for just 99.
Scotland never recovered from losing four wickets in the first two overs, Fraser Watts, captain Gavin Hamilton, Richie Berrington and Neil McCallum all departing with only six runs on the board.
Kyle Coetzer (43) and Gordon Drummond (35) put on 62 for the sixth wicket to give them hope of an astonishing comeback, but that was soon extinguished.
It was yet another miserable display with the bat from Peter Steindl's men, who needed a huge victory to stand any chance of progressing to the Super-Fours after losing to the USA and Afghanistan.
Ireland won the toss on Thursday and elected to bat first. Scotland did well to restrict them to 136 for seven thanks to a disciplined bowling display.
Gary Wilson and Andrew White both top scored with 19 as virtually everyone made only a minor contribution to the innings.
But the modest total was more than enough to beat a Scotland side who also failed to qualify for the 2011 World Cup, piling the pressure on Hamilton and head coach Steindl.
