An investigation has been launched by the IFA after violence broke out at an Irish Premiership match.

Several objects were thrown after the final whistle, as Glenavon faced Portadown at Mourneview Park in Lurgan on Boxing Day.

Police were called to restore order between rival fans at the ground.

The Irish Football Association says officials have launched an inquiry into what happened.

dave , i said irish league match crowds are down , i never mentioned this match. try and get your facts right, that if you have the mentality to do so?

@ Dave, Why is it pathetic if someone supports an English or Scottish team rather than an NI team? Why should people be loyal to an inferior product? If someone wants to support a team from Timbuktu then that is their business. I have been to plenty of IL matches and tbh the standard of football and support is a disgrace to the game.

Eh crowds so low - the match was actually a sell out. Another person who probably has never been to an Irsh League match to support local teams but yet takes every opportunity to criticize. Same person probably "support" an English or Scottish football team. Pathetic.
