The President of the Irish Football Association has told UTV that any suggestion that talks between the IFA and Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington over a new contract have stalled is "totally wide of the mark".
In a statement, the IFA confirmed preliminary talks took place with Nigel Worthington regarding a new contract on Thursday and that the talks "are still ongoing."
"People who think that you can sit down and sign a contract in five minutes are not up to speed with modern football negotiations", Raymond Kennedy told UTV.
"Nigel was with us (the IFA) for an hour and a half last night.
"He put things to us and we put things to him.
"We will be speaking to him two or three more times before the end of the year."
Nigel Worthington has been Northern Ireland manager since 2007. His contract expires on the 31st December.
The former Norwich boss previously said he was keen to stay after a World Cup qualifying campaign which saw Northern Ireland finish fourth in Group Three.
