The Republic boss had been goaded about his age from presenter Adrian Chiles and was questioned by Italian World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro on if he had ever kicked a ball.

However, the former Northern Ireland midfielder was quick to point out to the pundits, which included French World Cup winner Patrick Vieira, that he had won the biggest prize in club football.

It happened during the coverage of France's 5-2 demolition of Switzerland.

"I did actually play the game at one time, Fabio wasn't entirely sure," said the 62-year-old on UTV.

"I had to remind him, despite the fact there are two world Cup winners here, actually when it comes to the Champions League - which used to be known as the European Cup - I've won two of them."

O'Neill won the European Cup with Nottingham Forest in 1979 and 1980.

Ex-footballer gets mildly irritated by a bit of banter from a numpty TV presenter. Actually...this particular ex-footballer seems to get irritated at most things...
