The venue was filled with 4,500 spectators who witnessed goals from Craig Peacock, Jeffrey Szwez, Adam Keefe and Dustin Whitecotton ensure a vital win against Elite League rivals, the Steelers.
The home side took the only goal in the first period inside the first minute thanks to man of the match Craig Peacock.
Belfast doubled their lead in the second period with a power-play goal from Jeff Swez at 26.03.
But despite outshooting their opponents 17-4 the hosts were unable to add any more goals.
Three goals in the opening seven minutes of the third made it a much closer game.
Steelers pulled one back with a strike from Jeff Legue at 43.24 but this was soon cancelled out by Adam Keefe who netted at 44.49 to restore the home sides two goal lead.
Two minutes later it was a one goal game once again as Robert Dowd made the score 3-2.
It remained at this until the final minute when Sheffield pulled goaltender Frank Doyle and Giants Dustin Whitecotton found the empty net at 59.47.
