Northern Ireland international David Healy could move to West Bromwich Albion once the January transfer window opens, according to reports.
West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo reportedly wants the striker on a loan deal in the New Year.
It is understood Matteo had him watched for Sunderland reserves.
The Championship side have been struggling with injuries, particularly to their strikers, as Ishmael Miller remains a long-term casualty.
The Baggies want to earn promotion to the Premiership and are keen to bolster their attack.
Healy has endured a frustrating time at Sunderland, and has yet to feature in the Premier League this season.
Healy signed a three-year contract for the Black Cats in 2008, but has made few appearances for the side since the summer, including one in the Carling Cup win at Norwich City.
The 30-year-old Northern Ireland striker previously looked set to move to Coventry City on loan.
At the weekend, West Brom went back to the top of the Championship after a five-goal win over Watford at The Hawthorns.
