The Peterborough player has withdrawn because his wife is due to give birth.

This will be a big disappointment for Michael O'Neill who has already lost key players such as Jonny Evans and Andrew Little, due to injury.

Alex Bruce who has only recently made himself available for Northern Ireland has also been ruled out.

But this will provide ample opportunity for others with Billy McKay (Inverness Caledonian), Daniel Lafferty (Burnley) and Ryan McLaughlin (Liverpool) all being called up as replacements.

Northern Ireland sits fourth in Group F and will need to win their clash against the so-called minnows to stand any chance of qualifying.

But the team will be buoyed by their remarkable away-performance against Portugal in which they managed a 1-1 draw.
