Glenavon 0 - 1 Glentoran

Glenavon fought hard and while they might feel as though they should have got something from the game they still remain second in the table.

Scott Young's side began the second half the strongest. Daryl Fordyce had a great chance to open the scoring on eight minutes, turning after receiving the ball from a throw-in and shooting over from 25 yards.

Twenty minutes later Johnny Black's free kick just beside the corner flag down the right hand side almost crept in at the back post after Peter Steele was fouled.

But Glenavon began to force their way into the match as the game wore on. Trevor Molloy headed over a Kyle Neill cross after he had done well to keep the ball in on the byline and a free kick by Neill cleared the crossbar two minutes from time.

Andrew Waterworth came on at half time and almost immediately thought he had won his side a penalty after busting into the box and being brought down by Kyle Neill but referee Dessie Loughery thought otherwise.

Molloy fired over for Glenavon from 25 yards but at the other end Jimmy Callacher should have buried Neil Gawley's cross but fluffed his lines on the hour mark.

Conor Walsh shot over on 66 minutes from Brendan Shannon's pass and at the death Neil Gawley could have doubled the Glens' lead but pulled his effort wide.
