The win comes days after a humiliating defeat for the east Belfast side in the JJB Sports Irish Cup against amateur side Newington YC.

Colin Nixon opened the scoring in the first half with a goal on 37 minutes.

Two more goals came from Andrew Waterworth and Stephen Carson in the 75th and 81st minutes.

Coyle took charge of the bench on Tuesday evening following the resignation of Scott Young after the cup exit.

He agreed to take over the job on a temporary basis in the wake of Saturday's defeat.

Coyle got the response he wanted from the players, who dedicated their to ex-manager Scott Young

"Had they been performing like this all season, I am sure that they wouldn't be in the position they are in. I am absolutely positive that Scott would still be in a job," he told UTV.

"I promised the chairman and the Board that I would stay on until they appointed a manager and that still stands.

Glentoran face Carrick Rangers at Seaview on Saturday.

get a grip embarrassed roy coyle stil the most sucessful glens manager its the players no pride and no will to win , they did it they go out an play like they did , scotty a decent manager learning his trade and loads to learn yet with all his restrictions , players need to stand up and take blame for playing with no heart for the club

After Saturday, I dont know what any of them lot were smiling about. THE SEASON IS OVER!! But why are they worried? They will still get my money to pay their wages each week....while dishing up pure rubbish. So why does Coyle need to be there? he is part of the problem, let anyone take the team until a manager is appointed, as i remind the club - The season is over. Any change of reducing entrance fees too?
