Glentoran 4 - 2 Lisburn Distillery
The Glens were cruising in the first half thanks to goals from Daryl Fordyce, Andy Waterworth and Neal Gawley but were pegged back after the break by two goals from ex-Glenman Gary Browne.
But Ciaran Martyn made sure of Glentoran's progress into the last four with his second goal in successive games.
The Whites started brightly and Gary Liggett had an early opportunity to open the scoring but curled his effort wide of Elliott Morris' goal.
Glentoran began to stamp their authority on the game as the half wore on and on 13 minutes they took the lead through, who else but Fordyce.
The in-form striker, who scored five goals against Distillery on the opening day of the season, latched onto a mistake by the visiting defence after a fine run by Sean Ward to pick his spot and register, amazingly, his ninth of the campaign.
Distillery then had a period of possession but didn't really trouble the Glens and they were made to pay for that lack of a cutting edge when the home side doubled their lead.
Jamie McGovern's corner wasn't cleared and the ball landed invitingly for Waterworth to slam past Philip Matthews on 35 minutes.
And just two minutes later the game looked to have been settled when from 22 yards out, Gawley, like Waterworth a former Distillery player, sent a wicked free kick into the to corner.
Seven minutes after the break Distillery got a path back into the game in fortuitous circumstances when substitute Gary Browne went tumbling in the box under very little contact.
He stepped up to power home from the spot and there went the Glens record of not conceding in five successive games.
The Glens seemed to take their foot off the pedal a little after that and passes went astray, though they did have further chances through sub Peter Steele and Martyn.
However there appeared to be a grandstand finish on the cards when the Glens lost possession in the middle of the park, a long ball found Browne and he smashed a superb strike into the roof of the net from 16 yards out at an angle.
But with six minutes remaining any fears the home supporters had of seeing their side throwing away a 3-0 lead were banished when Steele pulled the ball back from the left for Martyn who took a touch and blasted in his third of the season - two of those coming against Distillery.
