Glenavon 0 - 1 Institute
It was Glenavon who had the vast majority of the chances and half chances in the first half.
First Hugh Dickson, who was returning to the side after missing most of the first half of the season after fracturing his skull, headed narrowly wide of the far post on four minutes.
Tony Grant then fired wide after being put through on goal by Stuart King after 17 minutes.
Trevor Molloy saw a lobbed effort land safely into the arms of Gavin Cullen, before Stute had their first chance of the game on 34 minutes - although Ruairi McClean's effort failed to test Andrew Plummer.
King had the first chance of the second period as Eamon Murray's cross evaded both Molloy and Grant.
A bizarre chance fell to Kevin Ramsey on 51 minutes when he got the better of Dickson and Jay Magee.
Both goalkeeper and striker left the ball, thinking it was going wide, but instead it came off the post with Plummer recovering well to gather up the ball.
The game then fell into something of a lull but substitute Parkhouse scored after being put through one on one with Plummer, aided by some lazy defending from the Lurgan Blues.
