Off-season signing Mark McCutcheon netted his first goal for the Giants just 32 seconds into the game, putting the side in the lead.

Coach Steve Thornton described the goal as "a dream start" for the player.

Cardiff drew level a few minutes later when Brent Walton found a way past Stephen Murphy.

Mark Garside scored the game winner when he made it 2-1.

Giants Captain Adam Keefe was sent off after getting involved in an altercation between Darryl Lloyd and Jesse Mychan.

"It wasn't the prettiest game. For an exhibition game, it certainly wasn't a friendly," Thornton conceded afterwards.

Murphy was awarded the Giants man of the match accolade.

The sides are due to meet in Cardiff on Sunday night for their final pre-season game.
