Following the Belfast side's away victory in Nottingham and both Dundee and Sheffield losing their respective games, the Giants were confirmed as this year's Elite League champions.
The weekend's results also secured the Erhardt Conference title for the Odyssey side.
It's the first time any team has won the league championship with 10 games to spare.
And it's the third time the Giants have lifted the league title in their 14 year history.
However, for boss Todd Kelman the weekend's results and winning the league came as a bit of a surprise.
He told UTV: "I assumed that based on the weekend results I thought we would have a chance to clinch the league on Friday.
"So I was not in Nottingham for the party, but in Belfast doing my day job making sure things were ready for Friday night.
"But then the results went our way and we found out that we won the league.
"I was just mad that I wasn't at the party."
It was a good night and great to be able to share the title win with our fans on the road too.
Player Colin Shields
Giants' player Colin Shields said: "It was a shock, we didn't think both the other games would go our way, we just concentrated on our own games and give ourselves a chance."
On Friday night the Giants will receive the league trophy in front of their home fans at the Odyssey ahead of the game against Coventry.
Todd added: "We don't have to worry about the result on Friday, we know we getting crowned champions so it's a lot to look forward to and should be a great atmosphere.
"But I still want the win."
For the Giants it is a long way from the troubles that threatened the future of the team.
Last February the entire team and staff walked out of the team over issues with its then new owner.
They went on to form a new team under the ownership of the Odyssey Trust.
Todd added: "We are now part of the Odyssey Trust family and they have been great to us.
"It's really different now, we really feel part of the fabric of the building.
"We have a great facility, great fans and my job is to make sure there is no excuse to lose."
