It was the Clan who struck first in the opening period when former Giant Matt Towe netted his 11th goal of the season to make it in the tenth minute.

However, the Giants bounced back soon after and a goal from Jeff Szwez made it 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The hosts dominated the second period, with Evan Cheverie’s double giving the Giants a two-goal advantage.

Cheverie’s first came on the powerplay 13 minutes into the period, and the Canadian forward made it 3-1 in the dying minutes when he finished off a pass from Szwez at to claim his 9th goal of the season.

Clan piled on the pressure in the final period, but Colin Shiels made ten saves in the closing 20 minutes, and victory was secured when Craig Peacock fired a loose puck the length of the rink and into the opposition net after Braehead had pulled their netminder.

The Giants are due to face Braehead again on Saturday evening, with the game taking place in Scotland.
