Giants lose to title rivals Panthers

The Belfast Giants' lead at the top of the Elite League has been cut to seven points after they were beaten by fellow title hopefuls Nottingham Panthers on Saturday night.

The Giants fell behind in the opening minute at the Odyssey Arena when Sami Ryhanan hit the net for the visitors.
Adam Keefe levelled the scores a short time later but David Clarke and Danny Meyers both struck for the Panthers.
The home side battled on in an end-to-end clash in front of the largest crowd at the Odyssey this season, but were unable to turn the scoreline around, despite a late goal from Craig Peacock .
Belfast Giants remain on top of the table, but Nottingham now move to within seven points.
Meanwhile Cardiff Devils saw off Braehead Clan by 3-2, Fife Flyers secured a penalty shootout win over Coventry Blaze, and Dundee Stars hammered Hull Stingrays 5-2 in East Yorkshire.
