Giants lose first leg of semi-final

The Belfast Giants have been beaten 2-1 by the Cardiff Devils in the first leg of their Challenge Cup semi-final.
The Welsh side opened the scoring in the first period on Wednesday night, Phil Hill netting on the powerplay with Paul Deniset sidelined.
Gerad Adams doubled the home team's advantage in the third period.
Robert Dowd responded for the Giants during a powerplay but the Belfast team were unable to turn the result around on the night.
The second leg will be played at the Odyssey Arena on 4 February.
