No return to Giants for Phillips
Despite losing 2-1 to the Newcastle Vipers, the Belfast Giants remain top of the Elite league.

The Giants took the lead in the first period when Michael Jacobsen found the net, but David Longstaff cancelled that out as he pulled the home side level from a power play in the second period.

Ryan Marhle secured the points for Newcastle in the third period.

Coventry missed out on the chance to go top of the league as they lost 6-2 to the Nottingham Panthers.

The Giants are in action this coming Friday when they play the Vipers again at Belfast's Odyssey Arena.
