There's more than just league points up for grabs too, with both teams in the same Challenge Cup qualifying group and in with a shot at a top-place finish.
Both sides have already secured their semi-finals places, but their opponents are yet to be determined based on the standings.
A win at the Odyssey for the Clan and they'll lead the group, facing either the Cardiff Devils or Sheffield Steelers in the semis.
But a win for the Giants and it could be them at the top - although it could also come down to goal difference, as the Clan still have to play one more game against Fife.
"We want to win our group, no question about it but the fact that this game counts towards league and Cup standings makes it a must-win for us," Giants GM Todd Kelman said.
"Of course the Clan see this one as a must-win as well, particularly since they can win the group in only their second year in the league."
The Giants head into the weekend's game top of the Elite League, with only three defeats in regulation time - but it was the Giants who ran out 4-1 winners last time the sides met.
Coach Doug Christiansen will be hoping to have Giants lead scorer Benoit Doucet back in the line-up for Saturday but, after he missed out on last weekend's action through injury, he remains a doubt.
Brock McBride also faces a medical assessment before finding out if he'll be cleared to play.
