In a tense game of few chances, Kevin Saurette scored the game's decisive goal with a deflected shot midway through the final period.

The Flyers were in their first play-off semi-final at this level.

The Giants have already claimed this year's regular season title, but missed out on the Challenge Cup when they were beaten over two legs by Nottingham Panthers.

Paul Adey's side will now face the Sheffield Steelers in Sunday's play-off final in a bid to clinch the Elite League title and play-off double.

The Steelers, who last won the play-offs in 2009, booked their final date with the Giants following a 3-2 win over first-time semi-finalists Braehead Clan.
