Mason's three-game ban, incurred after a check-to-the-head penalty during Belfast's game against the Cardiff Devils on Friday, saw him miss Sunday's action against Nottingham Panthers.

He'll still be unavailable for his side's home game against Coventry Blaze on Friday.

The Elite League's disciplinary committee undertook a mandatory review of the penalty and made the decision to uphold it.

"The tariff for a check to the head is a three-match ban," Simon Kirkham, head of discipline, said.

"We have reviewed the match DVD, and taken reports from the officials, and have decided that it is a check to the head and the penalty will stand."

The Giants travel to Hull off the back of that disappointingly heavy defeat 6-1 to the Panthers.

They'll now be looking to bounce back in their Challenge Cup quarter-final first leg game.

Face-off at the Hull Ice Arena is at 7.30pm.
