Two goals each for Colin Shields and Bobby Sandrock, plus one for Kevin Saurette, secured the victory at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday night.

Steven Goertzen and Drew Fata were on target for the Steelers but it wasn't enough to stop the Giants from claiming their second win of the weekend, after they came through in sudden death to beat the Fyfe Flyers 3-2 on Friday.

Meanwhile second-placed Braehead Clan lost at home to the Flyers in a high-scoring clash which finished 7-6, including a hat-trick from Bobby Chaumont.

Hull Stingrays player Jareme Tendler also scored three as they eased to a 7-1 victory against bottom of the table Edinburgh Capitals, while Nottinham panthers lost 4-2 to Cardiff Devils.
