Daryl Lloyd had put the visiting Odyssey Arena side into the lead after just five minutes.
However after 17 minutes Sheffield were level through Stefan Meyer's goal.
Five minutes from time Sheffield sealed the win when Jonathan Phillips struck to the net.
Last weekend, the Giants defeated Sheffield 4-2.
It was the first game back at the Odyssey Arena as an opposing manager for former Giants supremo Doug Christiansen - he left the side in April.
Giants captain Adam Keefe missed the latest clash with the Steelers as he began a four-game ban which will also see him sit out next Friday's league visit of the Nottingham Panthers, Sunday's Challenge Cup tie at Braehead Clan, and the Odyssey clash on November 2nd with Cardiff Devils.
