Colin Shields netted a hat trick to earn man of the match after Jeff Mason opened the scoring for the Giants in the first period with Chris Higgins sliding the puck past Kyle Jones to bag the game winner in the final moments for the home team.
The Clan came away from this game with their second loss in this season's Challenge Cup group games.
A solitary goal from Jeff Mason of the Giants at 11.51 was all that separated the teams after the opening period.
The Clan restored equality with a strike ex-Giant Matt Towe at 25.43. They then went in front with a power play goal from Ed McGrane at 29.01.
The hosts squared the game up as Glaswegian Colin Shields netted on the power play at 35.25.
Inside the last minute he netted another on the power play to edge the Giants in front. However, that was not the end of the scoring as at 39.27 Nathan Moon tied it up at three apiece.
The visitors regained the lead two minutes into the third period when Ed McGrane netted his second of the game.
This was how it remained until 58.21 when on the power play Colin Shields completed his hat trick. Then the body blow came as the Giants hit home the game winner from Chris Higgins at 59.54.
