Aaron Clarke scored on his debut as Belfast Giants beat Nottingham Panthers 3-2 in the match between the top two in the Elite League.

Despite losing 3-0 at home to the Cardiff Devils in their last outing, the Giants started the game top of the table and took a two-goal lead through Mark Garside and Craig Peacock in the first period.

Guillaume Lepine pulled one back in the second with Clarke marking his Giants bow with a quick response.

Jordan Fox scored a second for the Panthers but it was not sufficient and the Giants travelled home having extended their lead over the English side.

The Giants are back on the road on Sunday evening, as they travel to Hull to face the Stingrays.
