Evan Cheverie fired Paul Adey's side ahead before Kevin Saurette doubled the lead.

Andrew Lord replied for the Devils as they threatened to come back into it, however Colin Shields scored twice - as did Craig Peacock.

Dustin Whitecotton was also on target to surely make next Wednesday's second leg in Cardiff a formality as they look set for their first Challenge Cup final since 2012.

Meanwhile the Giants are also closing in on the Elite League title with a 17-point lead over their nearest challengers following last weekend's fixtures.
