He suffered a serious knee injury during an altercation with Braehead player Sam Zajac.
A linesman, who was trying to break up the fight, fell on Doucet's knee.
Giants coach Doug Christiansen commented, "I feel horrible for Doucet. He was having a great season and was our leading scorer.
"He is as fun-loving as any player I have ever coached. He was a coach's dream. He is an extremely creative player who made his teammates better.
"There is no doubt that losing him is a massive blow to our team.
"One thing I would like to add is the sportsmanship of Sam Zajac. The first thing he asked me after the game was if Doucet was ok and he asked me to pass on his best wishes the same way Doucet did following their collision in Braehead."
Christiansen added, "I overheard a fan state that it was karma for Doucet to get injured following the hit in Braehead.
"Personally, I find that disgusting. Doucet's livelihood has been threatened because of a freak injury. He is a class act on and off the ice.
"I wish people would understand that players are people too and that he is going to be spending Christmas and the entire winter on crutches through ice and snow unable to play the game he loves.
"Having had a career ending injury myself, I know how hard it is both mentally and physically to go through. I will never forget one fan who stated online that they hoped I never played again following my injury.
"These statements are powerful and deplorable. I hope Giant fans and hockey fans rally around him and support him in his time of need."
