The GAA have confirmed that score detection technology "Hawk-Eye" will be used on a trial basis in Championship matches from next year.

The decision was announced following Saturday's Ard Comhairle meeting at Croke Park, and is subject to ratification by Congress.

The technology, already successfully used in both tennis and cricket, will be used in all Championship games staged at Croke Park in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

A review will be carried out into the viability of the technology at the end of the 2013 season.
