A man had part of an ear bitten off when he was caught up in the brawl which broke out at a recent Tyrone GAA game between Carrickmore and Dromore, it has emerged.

Police are investigating the alleged assault at Dunmoyle on Sunday, which is reported to have happened when on-pitch violence spilled over into the stands.

The Division One league final was disrupted for at least ten minutes and a number of fans were left with open wounds.

The Competitions Control Committee has already launched an investigation, while the Tyrone County Board condemned the violence.

"There is no place for scenes such as these in our games," a spokesman said.

"The people involved should come forward and accept responsibility for their actions. Their failure to do so will only further discredit their own clubs and our association."

Two Carrickmore players received straight red cards as a direct result of the on-field disorder, with Dromore running out five points winners once order was restored.

I wonder how long it will take before bitter/bigoted people put negative comments about the GAA in general - using this platform as a way to sound their outdated and jealous views. Usually it doesnt take that long......... I hope I am surprised for a change.......
