As the 23-year-old continues to prepare for the biggest fight of his fledgling professional career, his mentor told UTV: "He's a real fighter - he can punch, he's got speed, he's got boxing ability and I believe he's going to be a world champion."
Frampton is set to top the bill on his home debut at the Ulster Hall when he faces three-time European Super bantamweight title challenger Yuriy Voronin.
The Belfast man told UTV the advice of his mentor McGuigan has so far been invaluable.
"Barry's been giving me advice the whole way since I turned pro and it's great advice - at the minute, I'm just like a sponge soaking it all up.
"People don't realise you need to be really mentally strong in this game and it gets tough sometimes."
The Clones Cyclone has seen many young boxers over the years, but he insists none have excited him as much as the man they call "the Jackal".
"His condition is improving all the time, his ability is improving, he's just getting better and better and better.
"I believe he's going to transcend the sport - he'll go outside of just the aficionados."
A world title fight might be a little farther down the line for Frampton, but he will take his first steps on that path at the Ulster Hall on 18 September.
