Frampton inspired by McIlroy success

Carl Frampton has told UTV he feels inspired by Northern Ireland's recent sporting successes ahead of his world title fight next month.

The Tigers Bay boxer was back home in Belfast for the last time as he makes his final preparations for his match with Kiko Martinez at the Titanic Quarter in Belfast. It comes as Northern Ireland sport is at an all-time high, with the boxing team bringing home nine of Team NI's 12 medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and Holywood golfer Rory McIlroy winning back-to-back major titles at the Open Championship and the US PGA.Frampton, who has been training hard in London, said he has been keeping track of the action and hopes to give local sports fans another win to celebrate on 6 September. He went on: "I'm not a massive fan of the golf but any time there's local talent involved I always watch it, especially the majors and McIlroy - it's unbelievable what he can do."I'm not the greatest golfer in the world but I enjoy watching it and I appreciate what he can do, an amazing player and when he's on form no one can touch him."It's great to watch and great to see."
