"I've made a lot of mistakes in my first stint," Flynn told UTV.

"I went away and I have assessed what I could have done better and hopefully I have learnt from it. It will make me a better manager second time around".

Flynn returned to the club with his previous backroom team of Peter Murray and Stephen Beattie on Monday, following the departure of former boss John McDonnell.

McDonnell took over at the Showgrounds in September 2009 after Flynn's own resignation, but failed to impress this season.

On Tuesday night, Flynn told UTV he was happy to be back.

"I really enjoyed the break and had no intention of coming back, but it's another opportunity I'm privileged to have."

"I have a lot of passion for Newry City."

Last year, Flynn cited personal reasons for his decision to step away from the club he had managed since 2007.

"We're looking forward. No point dwelling on the past", Flynn told UTV on Tuesday.

"It's about getting as many points onboard as possible and hopefully move up the league and look at next season for rebuilding."

The Newry boss praised his players for their performance against Coleraine on Tuesday night.

Niall Henderson came close to scoring when his free kick came back off the cross-bar in the first half.

Newry goalkeeper Andy Coleman performed heroics at times to keep out the Bannsiders and secure the draw.

On Saturday, Newry welcome Glentoran whom they beat at the Oval earlier this season.

"All the pressure will be on them," Flynn told UTV.

"If we take our chances on Saturday and keep a clean sheet the way the boys did tonight, there's no reason why we can't pick three points."
