English secures bronze in Zurich

Donegal athlete Mark English has claimed Ireland's first medal of the European Athletics Championships in Zurich.

The Irish champion finished third in the 800 metres on Friday night, finishing in a season's best time of 1:45.03 behind Polish duo Adam Kszczot and Artur Kuciapski.
The 21-year-old's time was just a second outside the Irish record for the event.
Elsewhere on Friday night, there was disappointment for Ireland team captain Paul Heffernan after pulled out of the 50km walk with around 10 km to go.
On Saturday morning Fionnuala Britton secured a top ten finish in her first ever marathon, with the Irish marathon team taking seventh place overall.
