Manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named the same starting lineup that began against Croatia for the team's final game of Euro 2012 at the Municipal Stadium in Poznan.

Duff, 33, will lead the Irish out after taking the captain's armband from Robbie Keane - both players made their senior international debuts against the Czech Republic in 1998.

"It's obviously an awfully proud moment, but I would take three points tomorrow ahead of 100 caps at the minute," said Duff.

"I know how much it means to myself and my family and what have you, but I am not trying to make a big deal out of it.

"I just want to get on with the game and hopefully do the business."

While the Republic cannot progress to the knockout stages of the Poland-Ukraine tournament, following two defeats, Trapattoni has fielded his strongest starting 11.

The match against Italy kicks off at 7.45pm on Monday evening.

Republic of Ireland: Given; O'Shea, Dunne, St Ledger, Ward; Duff (Capt), Whelan, Andrews, McGeady; Keane, Doyle.

John, did you chortle as much when the Netherlands (a team which exited the European Championships without a single win, or even point) thumped NI by 6-0? Perhaps you chortled as much when Ireland (a team in a similar position) thumped NI by 5-0?

A nice gesture for the families. Gordon, narrow minded sectarian people like yourself should just keep there stupid comments inside the air between your ears.

It's called respect, Gordon. Something you clearly know little about. Not that it really needs explaining as its clear what your motivation is, but those people were murdered while watching Ireland play Italy. Some people can see past petty sectarianism to show some respect.
