Down eased their Allianz National Football League division 1 relegation worries with victory over Dublin in Pairc Esler on Sunday.

James McCartan's side secured a 0-15 to 1-10 win over the reigning All-Ireland Champions to secure their position in the top tier next season.

Elsewhere in Division 1 Armagh lost to Laois by 1-15 to 1-10, while Donegal came from behind to beat Mayo at Ballybofey.

Despite racing into an early lead the Ulster champions pegged the visitors back to take victory by 0-17 to 1-7.

In Division 2 Tyrone maintained their promotion charge with a fifth successive league win.

Mickey Harte's side secured victory over Galway by 1-14 to 0-13 to maintain their unbeaten record for 2012.

Derry, meanwhile, earned a hard-fought 0-13 to 0-9 win against Meath, while Monaghan lost to Westmeath by 1-19 to 2-11.

In Division 3 there were defeats for both Antrim and Cavan, with the Saffrons suffering a 0-15 to 1-8 loss at the hands of Longford and the Breffnimen going down by 1-10 to 0-11 at the hands of Offaly.

Fermanagh meanwhile look set for promotion out of Division 4 after their fifth straight win.

Peter Canavan's charges saw off Waterford by 0-15 to 0-12.

In the National Hurling League Antrim were beaten 1-22 to 1-17 by Offaly, while Down suffered a shock 1-20 to 1-14 defeat at the hands of Ulster rivals Derry.
