Donegal are out of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship after suffering a two point semi-final defeat to Dublin at Croke Park on Sunday.

The Ulster Champions employed a near-flawless blanket defence for much of the game, limiting Dublin to just two points in the opening period and led by 0-4 to 0-2 at half time.

Jim McGuinness' side were also quicker out of the blocks in the second period, with a brace of scores from Colm McFadden edging them 0-6 to 0-3 ahead.

Eight scores is a shocking tally to win a game played in the wide open pantheon of Croke Park.

Dublin's task looked virtually insurmountable when they lost Diarmuid Connolly to a straight red card midway through the second half, but the Leinster Champions found their rhythm in the closing stages as Donegal began to tire.

With Donegal failing to register a score in the final 30 minutes of the game, Kevin McManamon fired the equalising point - Dublin's first from play - and further scores from Bryan Cullen and Bernard Brogan wrapped up a 0-8 to 0-6 victory.

Dublin will now face Munster champions Kerry in the All-Ireland final in September.
