In spite of a bright opening by the Orchard County which saw them lead 0-7 to 0-4 at half time, Donegal captain Michael Murphy's second-half goal helped Jim McGuinness' side secure victory by 1-10 to 0-11.
The Red Hands meanwhile enjoyed a facile victory over Queen's to virtually guarantee themselves a semi-final berth.
Tyrone debutant Danny McNulty and Queen's forward Ryan Rafferty both found the net in a closely contested opening period which saw the sides level on 1-6 apiece at the break.
However Tyrone came out strongly in the second half, and scored a second goal through McNulty's Clonoe team-mate and fellow Red Hand debutant PJ Laverty.
With Mickey Harte's side firmly in control, Paddy McNiece fired in a third goal to seal a 3-19 to 1-8 victory.
In Section B Derry proved too strong for Fermanagh, winning by 1-11 to 2-6 to condemn new Erne manager Pete McGrath to his second successive defeat since taking over from Peter Canavan.
In the other game in Section B Monaghan were easy 1-16 to 0-8 winners over St Mary's.
In section C Cavan made it two wins out of two with a comprehensive 1-9 to 0-5 win over a lacklustre Down side, while Antrim picked up their first win of the season with a 1-17 to 2-8 win over UUJ.
The final round of group matches is due to take place on Wednesday night.
