Distillery's David Cushley scored the first goal of the evening at The Showgrounds, followed by Newry City's Don Tierney.
Less than five minutes later City's Mark Hughes followed up his side's second goal, but the whites fought back with goals from Gary Thompson and Scott Davidson.
The result, coupled with the first leg nil-all draw at Ballyskeagh on Tuesday, means Pat McGibbon's men stay in the Championship One side, after being relegated following the 2010/2011 season.
