Goals aplenty at New Grosvenor as Lisburn Distillery and Coleraine battled hard for the spoils. In the end the home side grabbed a vital win in their quest to avoid relegation thanks to two goals from captain Peter McCann and a Glenn Ferguson penalty.
Lisburn Distillery 3 - 2 Coleraine
The Bannsiders looked well out of it after 14 minutes when Whites' skipper McCann had bagged his second of the game.
He opened the scoring on seven minutes, a brave close range header after a poor attempted clearance from the visitors. His second came from the edge of the box after Gary Thompson crossed from the bye-line.
Back though came Coleraine and their captain Tommy McCallion sent a 35-yard effort of the underside of the bar and in on 22 minutes.
Seven minutes later, Stephen Carson levelled from close range after he got the better of Whites' defender Stuart Thompson.
In injury time Darren Boyce should have put the visitors in front after breaking clear but he wasted the opportunity when he shot wide.
Glenn Ferguson fired home the winner four minutes after the break when the referee judged defender Kyle McVey had fouled Gary Thompson.
Ferguson fired the spot kick home whilst visiting boss David Platt was very angry at the decision.
Platt rapped afterwards; "I think he was the only person in the ground who thought it was a penalty, in fact I am 100% sure he was the only person in the ground that said it was a
penalty their players didn't appeal for it and how he has given it I will never know."
Coleraine pushed hard for an equaliser but it never game. The home defence and keeper Matthews worked hard to ensure the Whites made up further ground at the bottom.
"It's a great win, a really really good performance particularly in the first twenty minutes when I thought we were unbelievable and deserved to be two in-front." said Whites' boss Tommy Wright.
The Whites are now four points adrift at the bottom behind Institute.
