Melanie Nocher finished third in her heat in the 100m backstroke.

However it wasn't enough to clinch a place in the semi-finals for the Co Down athlete.

Meanwhile 17-year-old Sycerika McMahon was last in her heat in the 100m breaststroke.

She finished just under half a second under her personal best.

Dave in Northern Ireland UK, are you for real? The only thing I can assume with such idiotic comments is that in fact you are nothing more than a little 15 year old boy, listening to mummy and daddy's bigotry and thinking you are an expert on Irish history and geography? Please leave the sport to the sports enthusiasts.

If Northern Ireland is a 'state', why are the British here? I was under the impression that NI was a part of the UK, so why is it Team GB, and not Team UK? Or does Team GB stand for Team Get Beaten?
