Dundalk eased past Derry City whose poor form under new boss Roddy Collins continued on Monday evening.

Brian Gartland put Dundalk ahead at Oriel Park, but that first goal did not arrive until the 63rd minute.

With 16 minutes left, Richard Towell doubled the lead and David McMillan completed Dundalk's win on 90 minutes.

Manager Collins opted to start Rory Patterson on the bench, where in fact he stayed throughout the match.

There could have been even more Dundalk goals.

Dane Massey had a wonderful chance, which he headed over from Kurtis Byrne's cross.

Play was then held up for more than 10 minutes after Derry's Ryan McBride was hurt in a collision, before being taken to hospital.

Dundalk continued to have the better of things and had a goal disallowed on the hour for offside.
