Derry fell to a seven point defeat at the hands of Dublin in their NFL Division One meeting in Parnell Park on Saturday. Get Saturday's GAA results.
NFL Division One
Dublin 1-11 0-7 Derry
Despite Derry leading by six points to four at the break, a goal in the middle of the second half from Kevin McManamon, paved the way for a home side victory.
In what was a poor game there were plenty of yellow cards, with the sides getting few chances to score from open play.
Derry's worst news of the night came 11 minutes from time as Seamus Bradley, who had been on less than 20 minutes, fell awkwardly and badly twisted his knee. The forward limped off injured, replace by Lee Moore.
While Derry struggled to find a response, the hosts were in no mood to be merciful.
Scores from Darragh Nelson and Brogan extended Dublin's lead to three points before Kevin McManamon delivered the killer blow and handed Derry their first defeat of the league season.
NFL Division Two
Down 0-12 0-8 Meath
An untested Down side went two points clear at the top of NFL Division Two with a win over Meath in Newry on Saturday, with Marty Clarke and Paul McComiskey scoring points early on.
The Royals were still in the hunt at half-time - trailing by a single point at 0-06 to 0-05.
Meath struggled to break through what proved to be a rugged Down defence and the visitors' poor ball work and ineffective short hand-passing allowed Down to seize control early in the second half.
Down's Danny Hughes missed a good goalscoring chance, but John Clarke and Ambrose Rodgers landed some well-taken points as the Mourne men moved three points clear.
Meath also contributed to their own downfall by kicking four shots short of the target, allowing Down some leeway when they may have been punished on another day.
NFL Division Three
Cavan 1-8 2-13 Antrim
Antrim marched onward with a 2-13 to 1-8 win over Cavan at Breffni Park in NFL Division Three.
Thomas McCann blasted the Saffron's in front with a goal to make it 1-04 to 5 points after the two sides had traded blows, but Cavan where back on level terms at the break thanks to a fisted goal from Ray Gilligan.
Liam Bradley's side kept the pressure on with Paddy Cunningham coming out as top scorer on the night with 8 points, but it was Michael Magill that sealed the win with another goal ten minutes from the end.
Fermanagh 2-6 0-11 Roscommon
A late James Sherry goal earned Fermanagh a single point victory at Brewster Park. The goal from Sherry handed Fermanagh a 2-6 to 0-11 win over Roscommon.
It was 4 points each at half time, with Roscommon taking an early lead only to be pegged back before the break.
A Ryan Carson goal on 41 minutes gave the home side a 1-04 to 0-5 lead.
Roscommon regained the lead aided by six Donie Shine points, before team captain James Sherry's injury time strike.
