Man of the match Stephen McLoughlin hit a brace of goals either side of the half-time break during the semi-final replay at Tolka Park on Wednesday night.

David McDaid rounded off the scoring 20 minutes from time.

The Candystripes will now play St Patrick's Athletic in the final next month in Dublin.

"To win three-nil is a remarkable to be honest, coming to Tolka," Derry manager Declan Devine said.

"I'll take it any time, but to do it in a semi-final ... I'm very happy. But I also feel for the (Shelbourne) players because I think it was a very close game, as funny as it may seem, and it takes tremendous commitment from the players."
