Healy was out of contract at Rangers at the end of last season and had been linked to several clubs over the summer.

The 33-year-old Killyleagh striker arrived at Gigg Lane on one-year deal on Thursday morning.

He is hoping to get clearance to play against Coventry City this weekend.

"Bury Football Club are delighted to be able to announce that David Healy has signed a 12 month contract at Gigg Lane this morning," the club said in a statement.

"Hopefully international clearance from Scotland, and his former club Rangers, will be received in time for him to be included in Saturday's squad for the game at Coventry City."

"A huge Part of David's reasons for coming to Gigg Lane is to break back into the international scene with Northern Ireland and to help the club push on into the new season."

Healy has represented Northern Ireland 102 times, scoring 39 goals for the side.

Thought that at his age,he is not getting any younger,he would have seen out his playing days with the team he professed to love.Like someone once said'Never trust a badge kisser'.

This is the kind of move Healy should've made before heading to his unsuccessful spell at Rangers. He should get back to goalscoring form in League One if he gets fit and plays regularly. I feel this is his last move before playing in the Irish League though.
